"There were very few members present at our last meeting. Apparently something needs to be done about increasing interest in our group. The meetings are held regularly, programs are interesting, what can be done to keep our members attending?"
November 1975 Minutes CAS Symbol/Logo
Symbols for CAS submitted by Al Meyer presented for members votes. At the February 1976 meeting a symbol was chosen by voting on samples (attached). "Basically it is a triangular Mississippian point with the initials CAS on it."

April 1977 Newsletter of the CAS (IAAA)
Newly formed Cahokia Mounds Museum Society is seeking membership to help promote Cahokia Mounds and sponsor many new programs that the state cannot be involved in. Jay Jensen of our group was the first paid member of the Society.
Larry Kinsella and several members of the O’Fallon High School History Club spent a few evenings at Cahokia Mounds washing artifacts that Larry and friends recovered during his excavations at the Assembly of God Church site in Fairview Heights.
February 1978 CAS Brochure
Brad Koldehoff and Al Meyer were appointed to work on a project to devise an informational brochure for the public about our organization. Brochure was completed and printed March 1979 at a cost of $60.74 for 1,000.
DONATION:

$25 donated to CMMS for building expenses for new shop addition
1980:
CAS donated $25 to IAAA to be applied toward cost of printing
log books to be used by participants in the AATP (Avocational Archaeology Training Program)
Instead of a June picnic, we met at a local dinner theater for a buffet meal and a play. Larry Kinsella’s brother was in the show and served as a waiter.
Our first Annual Christmas potluck party was held.
1981:
A few members spent several weekends helping with archaeology work at the Boismenue House-a French heritage, vertical timber structure--in Prairie Du Pont.
1982: (CAS Tenth Anniversary)
We donated $25 to CMMS for a project to reconstruct a late Woodland pit house at the CM Site. This project allowed many of us to experience hands-on experimental archaeology techniques. Larry Kinsella devoted so much time and work on this project that it was rumored he was a full-time resident of the house!
The house was completed and a dedication was held February 27, 1982. Later we helped with the building of a log wall surrounding the area, repairs on the Mississippian house and in the garden area.
In 1982, our June picnic was hosted by the Wilbur Schmidt family at their home in Worden and our Christmas party was hosted by Bill and Gloria Iseminger at their Collinsville home.
1985:
CAS brochure revised and printed--contains information and applications for both CAS and IAAA.
Several members helped at CM site projects:
Repaired reconstructions of Late Woodland pit house and the Mississippian wall trench house; reconstruction of Woodhenge, and cutting brush from Monks Mound.
1986:
We helped John Kelly salvage a site in Columbia. We processed artifacts at the home of Bob & Joyce Williams and at Larry Kinsella’s home as well as at the labs in Columbia and at the CM Site.
1987:
Fund-Raising/Ways and Means Committee completed projects:
1. The design and development of a Chert Sample Kit
2. CAS T-shirts containing our logo and a design based on a bone, short-nose god mask found by Larry Kinsella
Also, our Flyer Committee developed a flyer to advertise these two items.
Chapter brochure was updated and printed.
Our chapter appointed an AATP Committee to organize training sessions and special events at the chapter level. Some of our March meeting participants qualified toward fulfillment of the "laboratory assistant" category of AATP by processing artifacts from the Columbia dig.
Chapter members expressed concern about the potential loss of the Zimmerman Site and offered support in sponsoring the site for the state register-27 postcards were completed and mailed to the Governor by members and others attending the November IAS/IAAA Workshop held in Collinsville.
1988:
